Editor for 21 Years of the New Canaan (Conn.) Advertiser

Norwalk, Conn., March 17 (AP)--Louis D. Rowand, for twenty-one years editor of The New Canaan Advertiser, died today at the Norwalk General Hospital after a long illness. He age was 63. He resided in New Canaan.
    Born in Newburyport, Mass., he worked for newspapers in Boston, Keene, N.H.; Bellows Falls, Vt., and Ansonia, Conn., many years ago before coming to Stamford to become managing editor of the former Stamford Sentinel. 
    Upon suspension of The Sentinel, Mr. Rowand became editor of The Advertiser, serving also as Associated Press correspondent for this locality.
    Mr. Rowand leaves a widow, the former Marian McMullen; three daughters, Mrs. John Kelly of Augusta, Ga., Mrs. Gene Wallace of Rowayton, Conn., and Miss Priscilla of New York and a son, Roger B.
