Walter died 28 May 1918 in Brockton, Plymouth County, Massachusetts, at 65 years of age. He was buried in Union Cemetery, Brockton, Plymouth County, Massachusetts.

He married twice. He married Emma M. Starbuck before 1873. He married Florence A. Barigs in Brockton, Plymouth County, Massachusetts, 5 October 1892. Florence was born in Auburn, Androscoggin County, Maine about 1848. Florence died 7 December 1904 in Brockton, Plymouth County, Massachusetts, at 56 years of age. She was buried December 1904 in Union Cemetery, Brockton, Plymouth County, Massachusetts.

He was buried in Melrose Cemetery, Brockton, Plymouth County, Massachusetts. He married Sarah Jane Weatherill in Brockton, Plymouth County, Massachusetts, 24 December 1897. Sarah was born in Wasbra (or Leeds), England 27 April 1873. Sarah died 17 March 1964 in Brockton, Plymouth County, Massachusetts, at 90 years of age. She was buried in Melrose Cemetery, Brockton, Plymouth County, Massachusetts.
