MRS. GEORGE A. LEWIS DEAD
Mrs. Josephine Lewis, widow of George A. Lewis, who died only a few months ago, died at her home on Washington street on Friday, after a long illness.
Funeral services were held at her home on Sunday afternoon and were largely attended by relatives and friends. The services were conducted by Rev. H. J. Piper of St. Paul's of the Wickford Baptist Church. Burial was in Elm Grove Cemetery and the bearers were George N. Oatley, Capt. Rollin E. Mason, H. A. Davis, John W. Dawson, Henry E. Dawson and Floyd N. Secor.
Mrs. Lewis was born in Hamilton May 9, 1848 and was the daughter of Nahtaniel [sic] and Rebecca (Gardiner) Smith. The family lived for a few years in New Bedford but for about 50 years had lived in this town.
She is survived by a daughter Mrs. George Bennett of St. Johnsburg, Vermont and a son Harry A. Lewis, well known architect of this village. A sister, Mrs. Gertrude Greene of Wakefield also survives.
